Overview

The Wood Products Processing Program provides graduates with an understanding of wood as a material. Emphasis is placed on a basic understanding of engineering concepts, business, communication and problem solving skills to produce graduates capable of managing a wood products manufacturing facility. Graduates will be expected to plan and construct production facilities, develop new methods and processes, and manage production control and coordinate personnel.

The program consists of 138 credits in-session for all students. Additional credits of extra-sessional work is required by students in the five-year Cooperative Program.

The Wood Products Processing Program also offers a five-year cooperative education program with work placements in industry. The Wood Products Processing Cooperative Education Program provides work experience integrated with academic programs. The program is optional and entails three summer placements and two winter placements. The first summer placement is preceded by a four-week non-credit preparation session. The program is available to all areas of concentration within the Wood Products Processing Program.

No later than the beginning of fourth year, first term, each student will be required to select one of three areas of concentration: Business, Primary Wood Processing, or Product Design.
