The Department of Forest Products at Oregon State University is the largest comprehensive forest products and wood science program in the western US.

A strong research program at OSU means you will be exposed to state-of-the-art technology, products, and processes. This gives you an extra edge when you begin your career.

The Department's close working relationship with users and producers of forest products provides unique learning opportunities through mill visits, internships, participation in research projects, and direct industry involvement in classes.

A high faculty/student ratio allows an opportunity for close interaction.

Academics are only a part of what we offer to prepare you for an exciting career.

Opportunities to participate include: the student chapters of the Forest Products society and Society of American Forester, the OSU

Forestry Club, Xi Sigma Pi (forestry honorary), the "Hi Lead" forestry newspaper, local meetings, seminars, and field trips.

We have an active and expanding extended education program that conducts many short-courses, and workshops in wood drying, plywood manufacture, saw filing, lumber quality control, selling, and other topics.

These courses offer you an opportunity to participate and interact with professors and industry personnel.
