Inside Scoop

WOOD PROCESSING ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY at NAIT and SAIT is being funded by the Alberta Education Access Fund. The program content is developed on the advice and direction provided by the wood processing industry.

So this means both government and industry recognizes a need.

A need for skilled workers.

Think about it.

The Canadian wood products manufacturing industry employs more than 100,000 people in some 4,000 companies nationwide. A $22-billion industry in 1994, wood products are a highly desirable export commodity, with markets in the United States, Pacific Rim and Europe. To compete in the global economy, wood products manufacturers are rapidly transforming their industry into one that is driven by innovation, knowledge and technology.

That's why they need workers.

Skilled workers.

So if you want to capitalize on these new employment possibilities, you're going to need theoretical, practical and work-related experience.

And this you can get at NAIT and SAIT.
