Overview

The concept of a pine furniture factory in Penticton was first discussed by a group of Penticton entrepreneurs in the early 1980s. A German engineering company, local businessmen, the B.C. government and a well known Scandinavian retail company put together a proposal that would see, what was then a vacant building, grow to employ over 100 people producing European designed pine-furniture, from a local B.C. timber supply, for a world market.

In June of 1986, the factory was opened and started producing pine furniture.

Today, Canwood employs 120 people producing "Ready-To-Assemble" furniture that is sold around the world. Canwood is known for its quality, service and design of contemporary home furnishings.

In today's business environment and with the company's desire to maximize our natural resource, Canwood epitomizes the term "Value Added Manufacturing".
