Overview

In 1975, C & C Wood Products Ltd. started in hom construction by manufacturing custom-built cabinets and other joinery products.

With his European background, the founder and principal owner of the company, Joe Cerasa, soon recognized the opportunities in manufacturing "value-added wood products".

Production of lodgepole pine/western red cedar paneling in commercial quantities began in 1978 and hassince grown into a major operation employing more than 130 people.

When C & C Wood Products began to produce 5/16" x 4" interior wall paneling, the raw material was purchased in the form of rough, dried 2" x 4" x 8' from local sawmills.

The moisture content made this material unsuitable for paneling.

In 1978, C & C Wood Products Ltd. built their own dry kiln to overcome this problem.

Also at this time, C & C Wood Products was finding it extremely difficult to purchase suitable lumber from the local sawmills. This was due to the unique size requirements and production schedules required by

C & C Wood Products to fulfill the shipping requirements to our customers.

This situation compelled C & C Wood Products, in 1979, to construct a "break down" facility that cut small diameter logs into the dimensions required by the value-added manufacturing facility to produce paneling. By this time, employment had risen from the original fivepeople to 18 employees.

In 1981, C & C Wood Products acquired 14 acres of land adjacent to the company's original property.

This land provided additional log storage and room for future expansion.

Also in 1981, the addition of moredry kilns to the operation helped to increase the efficiency of C & C Wood Products and, as a result, the employment increased to 24 people.

The economy was in a down-turn and the wood paneling product aimed at the home renovation markets providedan alternative to the depressed commodity lumber manufacturing industry.

Further development took place in 1984 when C & C Wood Products built a modern 60,000 square foot manufacturing plant to house the moulding and chop-saw line, finishing, packaging and edge-glue operation.

C & C Wood Products continues to grow with the construction of a new 18,000 square foot building to produce tri-ply boards, which will be marketed in Europe for concrete forms.
